As you can tell, I love NYC. Perks of my cousin living there is that I can visit whenever! I love it during the winter and summer time for many reasons. This time, I was able to take along my mom! She loved the big city.
For our first day, my sister and I showed our mom the ropes. The best places for a bite to eat, Chinatown for some souvenirs, and the 99 cent pizza stands. If you’ve never been to the Big Apple, be prepared to walk EVERYWHERE! Don’t underestimate how much you’ll walk. Walking is good for the soul!
One of my fav meals was the kung pow chicken from a little chicken shop called 375. It was so cute and smelled AMAZING inside. We did have to eat outside, but who cares? The sound of a big city is oddly satisfying.
The next day, SHOPPING! An absolute must in NYC. We hopped into Zara, where I tried on a few fits. The pink suit was my favorite and for a pretty affordable price. While red is a flattering color, I already have my Nick Jonas ‘red dress’ back home.
Next, we took a stop at the Harry Potter pop up shop! Yes, I definitely geeked out and bought myself a Gryffindor sweater. As much as I wanted to buy everything, I had to restrain myself.
For the last day, we took her to see the Statue of Liberty and the Financial District. While we missed the ferry, you could still see the statue from the park.
One of my favorite go-to restaurants in NYC is Ellen’s Stardust Diner. Home of the singing servers and some great food. Not only will you be full in the belly, but full of entertainment as well. Most people go here for the atmosphere, but I would say you haven’t tried the mac n’ cheese burger then!
Lastly, we visited the M&M factory by Times Square. So many colors there! Most you probably didn’t even know were an M&M color! Did we get a bag of colored M&M’s? You bet we did.
NYC is like my second home. I can’t wait to go back, which hopefully should be soon! If you have some hidden gems you like to visit while you’re in the big city, let me know below! XOXO
