Are you wanting to spice up your ceremony? Here are a few unique unity ideas for you to achieve at your big event!
1. Love Lock Tree
The love lock tree is one I’ve rarely seen done. There are a few different ways to have your tree created, too. Traditionally, you would have 2 locks in the bottom roots, to signify 2 different families. The lock in the center represents you and your significant other coming together to create your family. Then, you have however many locks you want in the branches to represent your future children! I love this as you can use it for years to come.
2. Tree Watering Ceremony
This is for my nature-loving brides! Have a small tree in a pot to the side, or behind you, during your ceremony. When you water the tree, it represents you and your significant other nurturing your marriage. You will get to watch the plant grow, just as your marriage will!
3. Wine Ceremony
Another favorite of mine, but not because I am a wine connoisseur. There are a couple of options for this choice. You and your SO can choose a different wine that represents you and pour the two into two glasses to allow them to mix. Take a sip and toast to your new marriage and blend!
Or you can buy your favorite bottle of wine and seal it in a wine box to be opened at a later date, such as an anniversary!
4. Sand Ceremony
I love this one, because of the colors! This can be used for never before married couples, or couples with children! Each pick a color that represents you and during the ceremony, you take turns pouring your sand into a large glass container. It also makes for a gorgeous display in your home afterwards!
5. Shot Ceremony
Now for you brave souls out there that can handle a shot, this one might be for you! You can use any alcohol you desire. A fun and unique way to get the party started!
6. Liquor Box Letters
You can use a liquor or wine for this ceremony. Get a box that can be sealed away. Write letters to your SO to be read on your 1 year anniversary. Each year, write a new letter to be read on the following anniversary and have a drink with your SO! Such a fun and memorable way to let each other know how much you love one another.
7. Releasing a Wish Lantern
If you’ve ever dreamt of being like Rapunzel and releasing a floating lantern, now’s your chance! This allows your love to pass into the universe as one. Depending on your choices, you can even have your guests release one after you!
8. Braiding of the Cross
Ecclesiastes 4:12: “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken”. Each strand of the braid represents the bride, groom, and God and the unending bond and strength between the three.
9. Blending Paint
For any artsy couples out there, this is a fun one! Each couple choose a different color of paint and pour it onto a single canvas. The two paint colors blend and bring life to the empty canvas together! Another gorgeous display to hang up in your home afterwards.
10. Branding Ceremony
This one reminds me of a rustic/cowboy theme! You and your SO can create your own brand and do it on a piece of wood, leather, or whatever you want. Not only does this give you something to display in your house, but now you have a family crest!
There are so many out there that you can do, these are just some that I don’t see often! I would love to hear what you did for your ceremony. Comment below!
Happy planning!
